ABSTRACT

After years of exploration, Central South University has comprehensively reformed and upgraded the curriculum in both horizontal and vertical integration, including optimizing and constructing a basic clinical core curriculum system with organ system integration as the main line, utilizing the advantages of comprehensive universities to further advance the cross-teaching reform of science, engineering, arts and medicine, strengthening pre-medical education with the goal of early exposure to medicine, promoting the reform of early contact clinical integrated teaching according to the concept of "early, multiple and repeated clinical practice", and accelerating the integration of clinical skills training courses with the support of clinical skills simulation teaching. After the integration, the faculty team has gradually matured and the teaching quality has been significantly improved, which has strengthened the students' medical thinking and overall literacy.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the performance of clinical theoretical examination of the five year clinical medical students in a medical school, and to explore the existing problems and direction involving in the medical education. Methods:The difficulty coefficient and degree of discrimination were used to analyze the quality of this test, and F test and LSD- t test were conducted with SPSS 24.0 to analyze the mastery rate of various modules and secondary disciplines including basic medicine, medical humanities, clinical medicine and preventive medicine. Results:The overall difficulty coefficient of the test was 0.74, and the degree of discrimination was 0.37. The coefficient of difficulty of each module is more than 0.70, and the degree of discrimination is about 0.40. The mastery rates of each module were all greater than 70%, with clinical medicine being the highest and medical humanities and basic medicine being the lowest, and the mastery rate of each secondary discipline was more than 60%, with a significant difference. Conclusion:This exam is sample, the degree of discrimination is good, and the overall knowledge is well mastered. However, it is still necessary to innovate education reform and improve the teaching quality based on weak points.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the influence of virtual simulation experiment project on the experimental teaching effect of infectious diseases. Methods:Ten experimental contents were selected, including 3 703 students majoring in clinical five-year program, eight-year program, anesthesia, psychiatry and other majors of Medicine School of Central South University. The teaching effect and students' satisfaction were evaluated through examination and personal questionnaire survey. The measurement data was expressed by (mean ± standard deviation), the counting data was illustrated by percentage. The rate is compared by Chi-square test, and the difference is statistically significant when P<0.05. Results:All the students took part in the examination of 10 items. Except for item 8, the scores of students in all items had a large variance, with almost same number of high score students and low score students. Learning attitude is closely related to learning effect. Among the students who think it's necessary to learn, 20.5% and 53% have excellent learning effect and good learning effect, respectively. Compared with offline experiment teaching, virtual simulation teaching has both advantages and disadvantages, and needs to further improve the satisfaction of students. Conclusion:Virtual simulation teaching of infectious diseases is unable to completely replace offline teaching, and the combination of virtual and reality is more conducive to improving the quality of medical students.

ABSTRACT

Medical simulation teaching is an emerging and developing teaching method in our coun-try. At present, the simulation teaching centers are developing rapidly in higher education institutions, but how to improve the effectiveness in the operation of the centers is still a subject that needs to be discussed. Based on our own experience, this paper analyzes the related factors in developing medical simulation teach-ing centers, making summary and demonstrations from aspects of team building, teacher training, docking needs, staffing and so on, so as to provide references and suggestions for the construction of medical simu-lation center higher education institutions.

ABSTRACT

As one of the first pilot eight-year clinical medicine education institutions, Xiangya School of Medicine has already put it into practice for almost 12 years. After years exploring and reforming, its cultivating plan has already been built up. This paper will make a brief comparative analysis between 2004 version and 2012 version in cultivating objectives, model and characteristics, demonstrated the development and reform of its eight-year program education, shown its features such as strengthening the basic knowledge, emphasizing the clinical skills, cultivating the capabilities, and broadening the international perspectives, and attempt to contact the residency and research training, in order to provide the reference for the eight-year program education reform.

ABSTRACT

Thioesterase catalyzes the hydrolysis of acyl-ACP and saturated fatty acyl chain. It plays a key role in the accumulation of medium chain fatty acids in vivo. In this study, to construct an engineering strain to produce MCFAs, the Arabidopsis acyl-ACP thioesterase gene AtFatA was amplified by PCR from cDNA of arabidopsis and double digested by EcoR I/Xba I, then linked to the plasmid digested with same enzymes to get the recombinant plasmid pPICZaA-AtFatA. We transformed the gene into Pichia pastoris GS115 by electroporation and screened positive colonies by YPD medium with Zeocin. Sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) results showed that the recombinant enzyme had a molecular of 45 kDa band which was consistent with the predicted molecular mass and we constructed the expression system of gene AtFatA in fungus for the first time. Under shake-flask conditions, Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer-computer results indicated that recombinant strain produced 51% more extracellular free MCFAs than the wild and its yield reached 28.7% of all extracellular fatty acids. This figure is 10% higher than the control group. The result provides a new way to produce MCFAs.
